You love timepieces. You really appreciate the efforts of watchmakers that stretch outside of the norm and reach maximum levels of creativity and innovation. You appreciate timepieces like Harry Winston’s Opus 9, Rebellion’s Predator and the many Horological Machines such as The Frog and The Thunderbolt.
Well, now it’s time to meet the amazing product designer behind these timepieces, and many more that you undoubtedly have admired in recent years. Introduce yourself to Mr. Eric Giroud. Giroud created his own design studio in 1998 and mainly focuses on the design and development of timepieces. His method of work is mainly based on human exchanges and research, both stylistic and technical.
Eric was born in La Chaux de Fonds and spent his youth in a cultural and artistic environment in Switzerland. From a very early age on, he is fascinated by music and drawing. He studied architecture and worked in this domain up to the age of thirty. Although he enjoyed practicing architecture, he gave up his studio and goes on a long journey abroad, which takes him to Dakar in Senegal, where he finally spends a year and a half. Now that’s something that I’d like to do, in the not so distant future!!!
Along comes 1995, and Eric returned to Switzerland to work a myriad of creative studios. He discovers and practices graphics, packaging and product design. Designing objects marks the real turning point, a new horizon and a feeling of deep passion. Creating products involves a profound human adventure and relates to factors up till then unknown to him.
So there you have it!!! A bit of insight into one of the more prolific product designers in the watchmaking industry…
