I like this one-hand vibe, but I’m finding myself looking at the face like a deer caught in headlights. I know I can read this thing, but despite all its simplicity, I am stuck. In any event, one-hand timepieces are always cool to me. This one has an executive feel to it, unlike Botta and Defakto pieces I’ve written about, but it’s still COOL to me. While Botta and Defakto both employ a more contemporary aesthetic, this one scores with a slightly more conservative and BOSSY appeal. I really dig the textured dial, although that might be what’s distracting me. Equally cool are the two retrograde displays.
Oh, before I forget, please appreciate the Retrolateur from Schaumburg Watch Co. latest news in 2010. This piece is a regulator with a 24hour scale at 3 o’clock and a retrograde display of the minutes, divided into two scales. The operation of the retrograde seconds takes place in two merging periods. When the starting second is over after 30 seconds the other second hand automatically runs from the 30th to the 60th second. When the sixtieth second is reached the procedure begins anew. Here’s an additional WOW, this beast is can be scored for around 2000 euros. That’s pretty crazy (in a good way) for a 24H piece, complete with double retrograde displays and subtle styling such as this one.
Proper!!!
