Put your hands together for Uly’s Kremlin wrister. Ulysse-Nardin has been creating ornate pieces such as this for some time, and presenting them with tons of creativity. I’m sure that you’re thinking of the Faberge egg or some other crazy treasure, as that’s nearly the first impression I had when I saw this piece. It’s much more than that, but the presentation leads one to draw that comparison.
This cloisonné timepiece was conceived to honor the Kremlin on its 200th Anniversary. It takes the artist in Switzerland one full month to complete each enamel cloisonné dial. The St. Basil Red Square comes in a blue multi layer Egg of the Tsars designed by Ulysse Nardin, but hand made by Andrei Ananov, a Russian artist in St. Petersburg. The egg is decorated with diamonds showing the Cathedral St. Basil and the gates and walls of the Kremlin. A bit too ornate for my taste, but the creativity in the presentation is very commendable.
